Get NZ Writing
We are a part of Get NZ Writing in association with Warehouse Stationery and the amazing School Kit. We have been doing some cool things to share with our buddy school Waipukurau School...including these awesome name poems...
The Charlotte Poem
Charlotte is a very tiny box
guarded by a ferocious kitten!
Charlotte runs around us
as the fastest big cat a cheetah.
Charlotte is the book and writing girl.
Whenever I peep into the mirror
I see a nervous cat face
but the cat face is still Charlotte.
Charlotte is a slow Mazda Familia
because Charlotte takes longer to start up when she stops
Charlotte is a dark moon
hidden at day time
Look there and there
Bits of fluff
blown from library to library
Chasing with a hungry kitten
They might be Charlotte.

wrapped in writing and the colour blue.
Samira is a honda jazz,
small but not fast.

it can not fly but is still graceful.

Mia is a short package covered
In bows with vibrant wrapping paper covered in glitter.

Hana pulls a weird face
It’s awkward.

Hana is a swirling, shiny galaxy.

They might be Hana.

Our Assembly
The Room 2 year 6's hosted the assembly on Tuesday. Year 5's will host the next one. Some of the children in Room 2 played ukelele which they learnt to play with Miss Davies (thank you, we miss you). She even conducted and played with the group on Tuesday. Here is a wee video of the song that was played.
Well done to PipEri and KnoMat for creating the amazing slideshow, to SheAin, HudCha, PalDis, PatPri, NavHas, BroSav, VoyKei, and GreMia for doing the skit to start us off, and to Hud Cha, PatPri, BroSav, and GreMia who hosted the rest of the assembly. Mr Yardley said you were all awesome.
Ms A is super proud of you all.

Poetry - noun, verb, adverb and adjective
We learnt about poetry by looking at this poem
We found a pattern in the poem: adjective, noun, verb
This was by anonymous |
We found a pattern in the poem: adjective, noun, verb
We learnt about powerful adjectives, strong verbs, precise nouns
...and adverbs
Then we wrote our own.
What do you think of our writing?
Cheeky smile grows rapidly
Buck teeth grin pleased
Warm eyes widen delighted
Bald head turns calm
Friend beams with love…

Waving doors shake loudly
Black cat creeps smoothly
Whistling monsters growls angrily
Screaming girls yell air breaking
By
Green grass shivers roughly
Dark clouds cry sadly
Tall tree’s shake crazily
Gentle leaves dance majestically
As brown fall visits.

Stormy Forest Poem
Wild leaves blow rapidly
Shivering trees shake crazily
Strong wind howls wildly
Blue sky darkens slowly
Insects scatter home frightened
Dark clouds hover above
Drops begin falling quickly
Loud thunder growls madly
Next lightning flashes brightly
Wild leaves blow rapidly
Shivering trees shake crazily
Strong wind howls wildly
Blue sky darkens slowly
Insects scatter home frightened
Dark clouds hover above
Drops begin falling quickly
Loud thunder growls madly
Next lightning flashes brightly

Monarch butterflies fly vigorously
Garden have many flowers
More butterflies fly over
Beautiful smelling flowers
Bees came to defend
Some butterflies leave slowly
Butterflies hide in bushes
Bye butterflies, good evening
